Last Update:   16 Jan 2014

After a disaster on my old PC which resulted in the loss of all the master files for these web pages, I decided to redo the whole thing and scrap all the out-of-date stuff .
Previous visitors will see that new sections have been added and others have been dropped - Avid Liquid has gone for example. That went ‘end-of-line’ early in 2010 and is no longer supported with upgrades and patches.  Liquid still works, of course, but it has lost touch with many of today’s videoing standards and computer systems: it isn’t too happy, for example, running under Win 7 or later, and cannot properly handle AVCHD formats.
Media Composer will be included simply because I have it (it was offered as an upgrade at an incredibly low price to registered
Liquid users during the spring/Summer of 2010).  For real information and help with Media Composer you need to access the extremely helpful Avid Forums and Tutorial web sites: here I just give some tips and stuff I have found useful during my own learning process.
You may be wondering about the ‘Footprint Productions’ section: a small group of us got together to make films about local history - originally based on 35mm and 16mm films found in the local library’s archives, but more recently creating films of local historic interest ‘from scratch’. These pages cover our activities.
I hope you find this new site helpful - at least it is more up to date!
